If you’ve delayed having a baby till later in life, you’re not alone. More American women are having their first child later in life, waiting until they’re in their late 30’s or early 40’s.

The rate of women who wait to have their first baby until they are between 35 and 39 rose roughly 6-fold. Women with pregnancies between ages 40 and 44 has quadrupled since 1985. And, this aging trend among first-time moms affects all races.
