Cleaning Alternatives

Have you been searching for alternatives to household cleaners with ingredients that you can’t pronounce? Today our Money Saving Queen has three easy do-it-yourself projects. Use lemons and oranges for eco-friendly cleaners that “really” do the trick and they cost just pennies.

The lemon here is the star of the show. We’re starting with the rind. You may love to use lemon zest when cooking, but if you don’t then try this. Toss the rinds in the garbage disposal, crank it on and you’ll have a lemony fresh scent, which is certainly an improvement!

Orange works great for this too. If you need to “zap the mess” in your microwave, try this… soak a sponge in water, add a few drops of lemon essential oil, heat for up to 2 minutes. Once the sponge is cooled, wipe down the microwave. If you want a bathroom stain remover that “really” does the trick’— listen up. Sprinkle cream of tartar on the stain, a dishcloth soaked in lemon juice and the paste works wonders. By the way’…all of these D-I-Y homemade cleaners cost just pennies.
