Beauty Hacks for Busy Moms

mom beauty tips

Us moms do it all. We’re the glue of the household which means we’re responsible for a never-ending list of duties. But sometimes, we’re so busy taking care of everyone in the family that we forget to take care of ourselves—and when it comes to beauty, we tend to get sidetracked. Good thing keeping it together is our forte. Here’s a handful of beauty hacks that’ll help you make motherhood look even more gorgeous than it already is:

1. Outfit Prep

After the little ones are tucked in bed, take a few minutes to pick out an outfit for the next day. The kids will inevitably be up bright and early and a lot of times, there isn’t time to focus on what you’re wearing. Choosing what you’ll wear the night before will wisely utilize the little free time you have and optimize your look (and ensures you won’t be wearing those yoga pants everyday)!

2. Face Wipes

In your prime, you may have used face wipes to take off makeup after a wild night out—now that you’re a mom, they have taken on the same role but in a bit different context. After an exhausting day running around taking the kids to practice, making dinner, cleaning up their mess and working on top of all of that, you probably want to face plant in your pillow to get much needed shut eye. Washing your face though every night is crucial to anti-aging, so at the very least, reach for the disposable cleansing towelettes to wipe the day away and keep your skin feeling refreshed.

3. Eyeglasses

As you’re rushing out the door, plugging in the contact lenses aren’t always top of mind. Picking up a nice pair of eyeglasses to throw on at leisure, however, is a solid move. You can add this touch of glam by wearing classic brands like Ray-Ban that carry a variety of styles and frames that’ll make your eyes pop—great for the days you also don’t have time to do eye makeup.

4. Fabric Steamer

What’s quicker and easier than ironing your clothes? Steaming them. A fabric steamer will change your life and smooth out any creases in whatever outfit you choose to wear, in a flash! With a flip of the switch, the steam is ready to go in less than a minute. The added touch of smoothness will keep you looking put together and looking professional-mom status in no time at all.

5. Hair Styling

After your birth a child or two, you might notice that your hairstyling priorities have gone downhill. If you’re a person who showers in the morning, try washing your hair at night to give yourself more time to style in the morning. You can additionally style at nighttime, perhaps if you’re straightening it. Another beauty hack that is a godsend for moms with jam-packed schedules is dry shampoo. Spritz, brush and go when there’s absolutely no way your hair is getting cleaned on a busy day—you’ll avoid looking like a grease ball, and washing every other day or every few days is better for your hair health anyways, right?

6. Long-Lasting Lipstick

Sometimes lipstick is all you need to brighten up your face, but, it’s not always top of mind when you’re busy with the kids. Dab on long-lasting lipstick on the days you know you’ll be out and about. You can give off a subtle beauty without needing to remember to reapply.

7. Gel Nail Polish

No-chip gel nail polish may very well have been invented for moms. Whether it’s washing dishes or looking fabulous at the office, the long-lasting polish endures all the wear and tear that happens throughout the day for the mom that isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. Get the manicure you deserve every few weeks and pick a nice shellac. It’s this little attention to detail that shows you’re on your beauty A-game even while being a super hands-on mom.

Beauty is just another item on the to-do list. Make it a quick check off with these tips and tricks so you can feel great and ready to run the world, or at least your world filled with little ones running amuck!
